In its official statement, the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) condemned Russia's aggression against sovereign, independent Ukraine and its citizens. The statement was supported by representatives of 28 countries.

The Forum appealed to research infrastructures and their funding organizations to assist the Ukrainian scientific community within the legal framework, suspend any current and planned associations with entities located in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

"This devastating crisis of extraordinary proportions will have profound consequences for our society. That is why ESFRI is determined to continue to take the utmost care to ensure that research communities remain a place where respect for human dignity, equality, solidarity, objectivity, honesty, freedom and fairness are guaranteed and respected" the statement indicated.

ESFRI stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian research community and seeks to support Ukrainian researchers and the research community to the best of their ability. The forum calls for peace, mutual understanding and tolerance.

As a reminder – the International University Sports Federation has banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the 2022 competitions.
