2016 University Admissions: experiment introduced for Master’s Law degree applications using EIT technology

Liliya Hrynevych, Minister of Education and Science, speaking at the press conference on the topic - Details of the 2016 University Admissions Process - said that one of the important aspects this year is the implementation of an experiment at specific educational establishments on applications for Master’s Law degrees using technology developed for external independent testing (EIT).
"The experiment, on the one hand, helps ensure the transparency of entry, and on the other, could be the basis for formulating a new qualifying exam for our future Law graduates", said Liliya Hrynevych.
Inna Sovsun, First Deputy Minister, described how it is important to ensure confidentiality in the procedures by which tests are being developed for the introduction of a pilot project that will be implemented in nine universities. To this end, a set of tests developed by lecturers from all the higher educational establishments in the project is being compiled into the final version of the test. All the universities have expressed their confidence in those nominated to not disclose any details.
The test consists of 3 components: testing knowledge of law, general education in legal competencies, and the level of knowledge of English. "If individual applicants studied another foreign language at university, they need only to pass the first two components of the test, before taking a test in another foreign language at their university," added Inna Sovsun.
It should be noted that the implementation of the experiment at specific educational establishments on applications for Master’s Law degrees using technology developed for external independent testing has been conducted in partnership with the USAID Fair Justice Project and the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine.
Those taking part in the experiment are:
