Lee Yang-Gu, South Korea Ambassador to Ukraine and Roman Hreba, Deputy Minister of Education, meet to forge closer links

11 July 2016. Roman Hreba,  Deputy Minister of Education and Science and Chief of Staff, met with Lee Yang-Gu, ambassador of South Korea to Ukraine, at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine

The meeting was also attended by Kwon Suk Choi, President of Korea Management Association (KMA), SungTak Kim, Director of Marketing, Ju Hon Do, Head of the consulting department for the public sector, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Education stressed the importance of reforms in education in Ukraine and presented some of the main activities of the Ministry in this area, among them - the introduction of new educational standards, the competency approach, improving the quality of teachers at secondary schools, improving the quality of educational syllabuses and the concept of The New School in Ukraine.

The parties discussed working more closely together in education and science. Lee Yang-Gu, South Korea Ambassador to Ukraine confirmed Korea’s intention to share best practice, especially in the light of the rapid development of Korea's economy over the past 60 years.

Also discussed were proposals for forging closer links between the Ministry and the Korean Management Association (KMA) in the area of improving competencies in personal development. Kwon Suk Choi, the Association’s President, gave a presentation of the organization founded in 1962 which a business specializing in lifelong learning, as well as consulting in management.

The Ministry expressed its interest in the experience of the Korean party on issues of lifelong learning, motivating civil servants to raise the quality of their work, the management of staff in e-governance, and the recruitment of civil servants.
