Ukraine and Bulgaria Strengthen Partnership in Education and Science: A New Protocol on Cooperation and Exchanges Signed



The Ministries of Education and Science of Ukraine and Bulgaria have signed a new Protocol on Cooperation and Exchanges, which establishes the foundation for collaboration over the next four years.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Ministers of Education and Science of both countries – Oksen Lisovyi and Galin Tsokov, as well as the Chargé d'Affaires of Bulgaria in Ukraine, Nikolay Nankov Nenchev, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Bulgaria, Olesya Ilashchuk.
The implementation of the Protocol will develop and expand partnerships in the following areas:
- Academic mobility for students and researchers;
- Professional development and teacher exchanges in Ukraine and Bulgaria;
- Support for students belonging to national minorities, ensuring their right to study their native language at all educational levels in public secondary schools in Ukraine and Bulgaria;
- Direct cooperation between higher education institutions of both countries within the frameworks of Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and other EU programs.
Additionally, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine emphasized the importance of supporting the study of the Ukrainian and Bulgarian languages and deepening cooperation between the educational institutions of both countries. This includes enhancing teacher training.

The Protocol on Cooperation and Exchanges between the Ministries of Education of Bulgaria and Ukraine for the 2024/2025, 2025/2026, 2026/2027, and 2027/2028 academic years replaces the previous Protocol, which was valid for the 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 academic years.
