Republic of Korea continues to support Ukrainian vocational education and digitalisation
Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine and Moldova, Mr. Pak Kichang.
During the bilateral meeting, the sides discussed ongoing cooperation and opportunities for its expansion, in particular in the following areas:
Vocational education — support for the creation of modern workshops and laboratories in colleges, as well as participation in the implementation of nationwide initiatives;
Restoration of educational infrastructure — the Republic of Korea had previously announced funding for the reconstruction of a vocational college in the Kyiv region, implemented through KOICA and UNOPS. Construction work is expected to begin soon;
Digitalisation of education — opportunities for further provision of educational institutions with computer equipment and devices, as well as support for the modernisation of the All-Ukrainian Online School platform. Previously, partners delivered over 6,000 devices to students who are unable to study offline.
The sides also discussed the development of Korean language learning in Ukrainian schools and cooperation in textbook development, which will help expand opportunities for young people and strengthen mutual understanding between the countries.
“The Republic of Korea has unique experience of rapid post-war recovery through investment in education and human capital development. For Ukraine, it is important to study this experience and adapt best practices. We are grateful to the Korean side for its readiness to expand support and invest in the development of Ukrainian education,” said Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi.
The Republic of Korea is one of the global leaders in vocational education, and its expertise and investments will contribute to the further modernisation of this sector in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is grateful for the support and readiness to develop a long-term partnership.
