Strengthening Coordination with International Partners: First 2026 Education Sector Working Group Meeting
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine continues to strengthen coordination with international partners to ensure support for Ukrainian education is more focused, coherent, and effective.
The first Education Sector Working Group meeting of 2026 was held with the goal of aligning government and partner actions to maximize their impact in supporting Ukrainian students, pupils, and educators.
“Recently, the Ministry of Education and Science team marked three years of work. Looking back, we see the significant progress achieved together. During this time, funding for education and science has increased by almost 90%, and capital spending on reforms has tripled. We are rolling out one of the largest education infrastructure projects in recent years and implementing comprehensive reforms across all levels—from preschool to higher education and science. Education is a priority for Ukraine, and the state is doing everything to make these changes sustainable. Much of this progress has been possible thanks to our collaboration with partners. Our joint results are strong, and with continued coordination, we can build on them further,” said Dmytro Zavgorodnyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.
At the meeting, MoES highlighted key progress across areas critical for further coordination, including:
- Digital Transformation Strategy for Ukrainian Education: current status and 2026 priorities, moving from rapid-response solutions to systemic transformation, including meaningful AI integration;
- EU integration: updates on the implementation of Ukraine’s strategic roadmap for education;
- Strategic alignment: MoES priorities and development of the GPE Partnership Compact, including defining focus areas and holding sectoral consultations.
Transparency and openness in working with partners remain a top priority for MoES.
Over the past year, the Education Sector Working Group has been restructured, and coordination mechanisms strengthened. Thematic groups now operate across key areas: preschool, general secondary, vocational education and training (VET), and Education in Emergencies (with a transition of Education Cluster).
MoES invites partners to get involved in the work of sectoral groups to strengthen support for Ukraine’s education sector. For those interested, please contact: [email protected].
