A vocational lyceum in the Kyiv oblast, which was completely destroyed by russian forces in 2022, will be rebuilt with the support of South Korea! The partners allocated $14.9 million for this purpose. The protocol to begin the cooperation was signed by the Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency in Ukraine, Taekyung Lee, the Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, and the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko.

South Korea is one of the leading countries in the development of vocational education, and their investments and expertise will help modernize the sector in Ukraine more effectively.

"We continue to seek and raise funds to rebuild the educational institutions destroyed by russia. Unfortunately, due to the enemy's cynical attacks, more than 350 educational institutions have been destroyed. However, we see the world uniting around Ukraine to help restore justice. Today we have another international partner in moving closer to this goal" said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

What will the rebuilt vocational lyceum look like?

  • spacious: the new educational building will have an area of 7,900 m²;
  • modern: equipped with upgraded classrooms, production facilities, a library, an assembly hall, and a gym;;
  • well-equipped: designed for practical skill training;
  • safe: the vocational lyceum will have a reliable shelter.

The reconstructed lyceum will be able to train 1,200 students in total, with 400 spots available for adults enrolled in retraining programs.

"In total, 245 educational institutions in the Kyiv oblast were damaged or destroyed as a result of the full-scale invasion. We have already restored 209. International partners provide significant assistance. Together, we are bringing children back to quality and, most importantly, safe education" added Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.

In addition to the reconstruction efforts, the partners are also driving the digitalization of education in Ukraine. They support the All-Ukrainian School Online platform and provide students with devices to facilitate more effective online learning.

We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support and long-term cooperation!

The initiative is implemented with the assistance of the Partnerships Coordination Office of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
