Our key task is to reform educational content - Liliya Hrynevych
The principal task for the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is to reform educational content. This was stressed by Minister Liliya Hrynevych during her press conference in Sumy Area State Administration, during her working trip.
"School must prepare children for life, provide them with the competencies, expertise, and knowledge that are necessary for life in the 21st century, and the curriculum should not be overloaded with unnecessary theoretical information", said the Minister.
Liliya Hrynevych said that the Ministry of Education is working on the introduction of the elements of competencies for primary schools, which has resulted in a thorough review of curricula.
"Teaching in elementary schools can overloaded with unnecessary information that does not give children the opportunity to develop creativity", said the Minister.
In addition, Liliya Hrynevych said that the Ministry is launching new educational standards developed for primary, secondary and senior schools.
The Minister announced that the Concept of the New Ukrainian School will be discussed at the upcoming August conferences for educationalists. "Here we write down all the features that are associated with a new approach to competencies training, and will offer the New Ukrainian School structure and mechanisms that will implement this project", said Liliya Hrynevych.
