European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

Agreement between Ukraine and European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) was signed on October 03, 2013 in the Geneva city and validated by the Supreme Council of Ukraine on September 02, 2014. Ukraine became an associate member of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on October 05, 2016.

Gaining the status of an associate member of CERN provides a unique opportunity for Ukrainian scientists to get experience in advanced research, work as CERN staff and participate in career development programs. It also expands access to CERN's projects and education programs, contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of scientific research and training of top-level scientists.

Associate membership of Ukraine European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) promotes the activation of Ukraine's scientific potential for fundamental research in physics and nuclear physics and creates favorable conditions for Ukraine's integration into the European scientific space.

The Ministry of Education and Science has prepared the following legal acts:

1. Decree «On approval of the Regulation on the Interagency Coordinating Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on cooperation between Ukraine and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)» of September 14, 2016, № 1104/580
2. Decree «On the Interagency Coordinating Council of the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on cooperation between Ukraine and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)» of March 31,.2017, № 515/140.
3. Order of the Сabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of December 16, 2016, № 1061 «On introduction of amendments to the paragraph 5 of the list of central executive authorities and other state bodies responsible for fulfilling obligations arising from the membership of Ukraine in international organizations».
