Access to databases of scientific information

Over the last years Ukrainian scientists have got a wide access to important electronic resources of scientific information. Funds from the state budget are allocated for these needs annually.

In 2017 higher education institutions and research institutions for the first time got access to the largest abstract databases of peer-reviewed literature Scopus and Web of Science (according to the results of the selection 68 institutions were granted access to the Scopus and 64 institutions were granted access to the Web of Science). In 2018 the number of institutions granted access to these two databases increased (135 institutions had access to the Scopus and 105 institutions - to the Web of Science).

From 2019 access to the Scopus and Web of Science databases have been provided in a national subscription format. As a result, more than 500 higher education institutions and research institutions have been able to obtain and use such access.

In addition to abstracts, bibliographic databases, access to full-text databases of the world’s largest publishers of scientific literature (in 2020 - access to e-books and e-journals of Springer Nature, in 2021 - access to Elsevier ScienceDirect e-books collection) was provided for Ukrainian scientists .

In 2022, because of the war, it is impossible to provide access to electronic resources of scientific information at the expense of the state budget.

At the same time, supporting Ukraine in the difficult conditions of the war, many publishers and companies have opened or preserved (if previously such access was provided for budget funds) free access for Ukrainian scientists to their electronic resources.

Thus, thanks to the support of international partners, the possibilities of using electronic databases of scientific information by Ukrainian educational institutions and scientific institutions have significantly expanded.
