Ukrainian scientists have got access to e-resources of the world's leading publishers through Research4Life

Ukrainian scientists have been grantedfree access to full-text e-resources through the Research4Life till the end of 2022, according to an official statement on the Research4Life website.

The list of available resources has been significantly expanded, more than 15 publishers have additionally opened electronic collections of books and journals for Ukrainian researchers. The resources of the following publishers are open:

• Elsevier;
• Springer Nature;
• John Wiley & Sons;
• Taylor & Francis;
• Emerald;
• Sage Publications;
• Oxford University Press;
• Cambridge University Press;
• IOP Publishing, etc.

Currently, almost 75,000 books, more than 12,500 journals and other databases are available for specialists of higher education and research institutions in Ukraine.

The full list of resources provided is available at the link. To get an access you should select Ukraine in the country list and then a relevant institution category.

Previously, Ukrainian institutions had to pay in order to to access resources through Research4Life (Ukraine is included in the list of Group B countries that are required to pay for access to literature collections, in contrast to the list of Group A countries), however, due to the difficult situation in Ukraine, this year it was decided to cancel fees for Ukrainian institutions.

Higher education, research and other types of institutions and organizations need to register to get access. More than 200 Ukrainian institutions have already registered at the platform.

Representatives of the platform provide swift consideration of applications from Ukrainian institutions, that continue to be actively received.

After confirming registration on the Research4Life platform, employees of the institution have access to its content. To do this, they need to contact the responsible department or contact person of the institution (usually this function is performed by library specialists) to obtain an institutional login and password to log in, as well as instructions for creating a personal account.

Research4Life is a private-public partnership set up by the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), International Labour Organization (ILO), Cornell and Yale Universities and the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers.

Since 2002, Research4Life has provided researchers from more than 10,500 institutions in more than 125 low- and middle-income countries with free or low-cost online access to up to 154,000 leading journals and books.
