Today, on March 24, 2022, the Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet has met Murat Sahin, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine.

First of all, Serhiy Shkarlet has thanked Mr. Murat for his support, especially in terms of brutal Russian aggression, which lasts for 29 days already.

“Undoubtedly, it is extremely difficult time for Ukraine, but the continuity of education and the creation of safe conditions for teaching and learning remain the MoES key strategic priorities. Another important priority is to ensure the psychological resilience of the education process participants. And experience and resources provided by UNICEF help us to implement this task”, – said the Minister.

Mr. Sahin has noted that UNICEF provides a comprehensive support to Ukraine. More than a thousand devices aiming to help educators in remote learning have been purchased. UNICEF also actively provides humanitarian support to both internally displaced persons and those in areas of active hostilities.

Murat Sahin has proposed few initiatives to support students and educators in teaching and learning. We have agreed to develop a roadmap for their soonest implementation.

“Given UNICEF valuable experience in organizing education in emergencies, I am sure that with joint efforts we will succeed in creating safe conditions for teaching and learning, minimizing educational losses, and rebuilding  educational infrastructure and Ukrainian education as a whole very soon”, – completed by the Minister.
