Brazil initiates Program of integration of Ukrainian scientists

The government of the State of Parana supported by Araucaria Foundation and the Secretariat of State for Science, Technology and Higher Education announced a Program of integration of Ukrainian scientists that had to flee Ukraine due to a full-scale Russian invasion.

In Parana, mainly Ukrainian immigrants live, the Ukrainian language is widespread, national Ukrainian traditions are preserved. Since 24 of February the state has accepted refugees from Ukraine. The cooperation of Ukrainian and Brazilian scientists in a partnership with the Government of the State will become an important step toward the revival of the Ukrainian economy in the future.

The program is focused on providing opportunities to the scientists from Ukrainian universities to continue their research in the universities of the Parana State for up to two years. It is expected that up to 50 PhDs that are working or have been working previously in the Ukrainian universities on their research projects will be involved in the program. These scientists will be able to teach and upgrade their qualifications in the universities of Parana State.

Scientists that are interested in participating in this program have to send an application in Ukrainian, Portuguese, or English with information about the areas of their research, its objective, and tasks. Together with the application, candidates have to send a video (up to 3 minutes) introducing their professional plans. The video can be recorded via a cellphone.

Selected candidates will receive grants in the amount of 10,000,00 reals, they will also receive additional 1000,00 reals to support children up to 18 years old or/and elders over the age of sixty.

In addition to the grant, Araucaria Foundation provides airline tickets to Brazil from Ukraine and back and free courses of Portuguese to facilitate language and cultural integration of the scientists and their relatives to the community.
