Achievements and Track Record

The Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is a consulting and advisory body created with the purpose of contributing to exercising young scientists' rights to participate in the formation and implementation of the state policy in the area of research, scientific and technical, and innovation activities. The Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science is a legal successor of the Council of Young Scientists at the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information (Derzhinformnauky) of Ukraine.

History of Creation and Main Tasks

The Council of Young Scientists was established in 2012 at the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information. The creation of the Council of Young Scientists was prompted by the decision taken at a round table meeting called "Condition and Prospects of Professional and Economic Attractiveness of Science for Young Specialists," held at Derzhinformnauky on 29 March 2012.

It was during the reports and discussion of the pressing issues of young people's participation in scientific activity that the necessity of establishing a representative body of young scientists at the central executive body level became obvious. An initiative group that was created based on the round table results generalized the proposals brought forward by all the stakeholders and prepared Regulation on the Council of Young Scientists, which was then approved by Order No. 109 of Derzhinformnauky dated 13 June 2012.

In 2014, due to reorganization of Derzhinformnauky in accordance with Order No. 1384 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 24 November 2014, the Council of Young Scientists continued operating as a consulting and advisory body at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The main tasks of the Council are as follows:

1. contributing to interaction of the Ministry of Education and Science with self-governing scientific youth organizations at research institutions and higher education institutions of Ukraine;
2. drawing up proposals to create legal and socio-economic conditions for engaging talented youth in research activity, encouraging professional activity of young scientists at local research organizations and higher education institutions, increasing their professional level and implementing their creative and professional activity;
3. providing advisory support for young scientists in connection with research activity, cooperating with foreign customers who order research products, etc;
4. contributing to participation of young scientists in calls for proposals for scientific efforts, to creation of young research teams for implementing promising scientific projects.
