The delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine took part in the Education World Forum (EWF) — the world’s largest global event in the field of education. Ukraine was represented by Yevhen Kudriavets, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Dmytro Zavhorodnii, Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization, and Albina Tsiatkovska, Director General of the Directorate for International Cooperation.

This year’s Education World Forum brought together a record number of participants — around 150 ministers of education and delegations from more than 125 countries worldwide. For Ukraine, it is extremely important to be present at such international platforms and to share our experience of how, even during war, we continue to focus on systemic transformations at all levels of education. This strengthens the perception of Ukraine as a strong and reliable partner and demonstrates our ability not only to sustain the education system, but also to continue its development and modernization.

It is also important that the Forum became a platform for a number of strategic negotiations on attracting investments and expanding partnerships with leading international organizations and EdTech companies,” said Yevhen Kudriavets.

Among the key outcomes:

Negotiations on attracting new funding for education recovery

On the sidelines of the Forum, the Ministry held meetings with the International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd) and the World Bank — a key partner that has systematically supported education in Ukraine with more than $750 million. During bilateral meetings, the Ministry and partners discussed opportunities to attract new sources of funding to support Ukrainian students, teachers, and the education system as a whole.

Supporting digitalization of education in Ukraine and addressing learning losses

The Ukrainian delegation held working meetings with EdTech organizations, including Amira Learning, Edsby, Matific, and others. The main goal was to explore areas for cooperation and jointly develop digital solutions to address learning losses, introduce innovative methodologies, and further advance the digitalization of education in Ukraine.

Advancing English language learning in Ukraine and engaging British expertise

Another focus of the visit was meetings with representatives of the British Council and the University of Cambridge. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is working with partners to engage their expertise in improving the teaching and learning of English in Ukraine. The parties discussed opportunities for professional development for Ukrainian English teachers, the integration of advanced teaching methodologies, and modern educational materials.

Sharing experience and strengthening Ukraine’s role on the international education stage

The Ministry’s delegation was also invited to share Ukraine’s experience in developing education during emergencies through panel discussions.

During a session on supporting learning in times of crisis, First Deputy Minister Yevhen Kudriavets shared Ukraine’s experience in implementing educational reforms and transformations focused not only on responding to the challenges of war, but also on the long-term development of the sector. Ukraine is ready to share this expertise and these solutions internationally.

Dmytro Zavhorodnii also spoke at a session dedicated to building lifelong learning systems, highlighting the role of vocational education reform and training voucher programs for adults and veterans in this process.

Ukrainian education is not only capable of functioning under conditions of aggression, but is also actively integrating into the global educational space, becoming an example of resilience and innovation.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is grateful to the Government of the United Kingdom and the Forum organizers for the opportunity to share this experience and build partnerships on a global platform.
